Scholarship Programs:
The Corporate Tax Credit Scholarship
Students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch in Florida are eligible to participate in the state's Corporate Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which provides grants up to $3,750 for students wishing to attend private school and $500 for students who want to attend an out-of-district public school. This scholarship was established in the year 2001 and 20,000 students are expected to enroll during the 2007-2008 school year.

John M. McKay Scholarship for Students with Disabilities
The McKay Scholarship program serves Florida's students with special needs by providing them with scholarships for private school. These scholarships are available to any student who has an Individualized Education Plan and was enrolled in a Florida public school during the previous school year. The average grant amount is $6,927, but the grants do vary on an individual basis. The amount awarded equals either the amount of money that would have been allotted to the student in his public school or the amount of his private school tuition, whichever is less.

The A+ Opportunity Scholarship
The A+ Opportunity Scholarship provides students attending failing public schools with the opportunity to transfer to a high-performing public school. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must be attending a public school that has received an "F" grade at least two times in the past four years. Grants average approximately $4,205 per student.

Charter and Magnet Schools:
Florida Charter Schools
Charter schools are publicly funded schools that are exempt from certain state mandates, but held accountable to other bodies. They are tuition-free, like traditional public schools, but often offer special programs (such as an intensive language-learning program) that public schools do not.

Florida Magnet Schools
Magnet schools are public schools that offer a specialized curriculum, whether it be in science, the performing arts, or engineering, amongst other subjects.
